What we have in store for you at CSRF 2023

Two exciting plenaries -

  • The double-edged sword of sexual desire: A force of creation and destruction of intimate bonds. (Dr. Gurit Birnbaum)

After Dark Event -

  • A playful and immersive exhibition titled "Sex, Desire and Data.", taking place at the PHI Centre in beautiful Old Montréal

And more! -

  • Access to our social event, a drag show at bar le cocktail, in the heart of one of Canada’s oldest and largest Gay Village (for a fee)

  • A symposium on Integrating Innovative Technology for Advancing Research and Intervention in Human Sexuality

  • 14 Oral Presentations and 34 data blitz talks with extended Q & A periods with the presenters

  • Two poster sessions and an opening reception on Thursday; a cash bar will be available during the Thursday poster session to toast seeing each other in-person again!

  • Breakfast and coffee breaks each day, and lunch on Thursday and Saturday

  • A student-faculty networking opportunity on Saturday

  • Two and a half days of updates in sex research (we take Friday afternoon off for socializing, networking, fun)

New Language Guidelines / Nouvelles directives linguistiques

In the spirit of improving our bilingualism and inclusivity, we are implementing several new strategies that we hope will contribute to encourage more people from all over Canada to submit and present their work to this year’s conference:

  • Abstracts may be submitted in either English or French.

  • Those who are selected for Poster Presentation may choose to present in English, French, or both (on a single poster).

  • It is expected that oral presentations will be delivered in English. However, to accommodate non-English speakers, additional time will be provided for the presentation (1 min for data blitzes, 2 min for oral presentations), if needed.

  • During Question & Answer periods following a presentation, the audience will have to opportunity to ask questions in either English or French. Non-English speakers will also be given the opportunity to respond in either language. All Question & Answer moderators will be bilingual and will translate questions and answers in English as desired.

Dans l'esprit d'améliorer notre bilinguisme et notre inclusivité, nous mettons en œuvre plusieurs nouvelles stratégies qui, nous l'espérons, contribueront à encourager davantage de personnes de partout au Canada à soumettre et à présenter leur travail au congrès de cette année :

  • Les résumés peuvent être soumis en anglais ou en français.

  • Ceux qui sont sélectionnés pour la présentation par affiche peuvent choisir de présenter en anglais, en français ou les deux (sur une seule affiche).

  • Il est prévu que les présentations orales seront faites en anglais. Cependant, pour accommoder les non-anglophones, un temps supplémentaire sera accordé pour la présentation (1 min pour les blitz de données, 2 min pour les présentations orales), si nécessaire.

  • Pendant les périodes de questions et réponses suivant une présentation, le public aura l'occasion de poser des questions en anglais ou en français. Les non-anglophones auront également la possibilité de répondre dans l'une ou l'autre langue. Tous les modérateurs des questions et réponses seront bilingues et traduiront les questions et les réponses en anglais si vous le souhaitez.

CSRF BIPOC Student Conference Bursary - Application open from June 1st to 30th, 2023

The CSRF Black, Indigenous, or other Persons of Colour (BIPOC) student conference bursaries are intended to support the participation, engagement, and integration of BIPOC students at the annual CSRF meetings.
